Lifeline

Lifeline “Buddy” program

The beginning of treatment is often an overwhelming time for the patient, siblings and parents. An essential part of our mission is to reach out to families to let them know they are not alone. We’re here to help.

Lifeline is a telephone support network that pairs survivor families with newly diagnosed ones. Family to family contact can help ease the isolation and create a sense of community and shared experience. Often the best insights come from another "mom" who's been through this experience.

Do You Need a Buddy?
Our buddies have been carefully selected and trained. All buddies have had a child with a pediatric cancer. Our goal is to match families by diagnosis and age of child.

The buddy's role is not to offer medical advice, but to listen and offer comfort, hope, and practical strategies for coping with the daily demands of cancer treatment. We recognize that cancer affects the entire family, not just the patient — Lifeline buddies are here to help.

A Lifeline Coordinator will call you to discuss your family's needs and make the appropriate match. Your Lifeline buddy will contact you within 48 hours of your first contact with us.

Lifeline buddies are trained to respect your privacy and keep all conversations confidential.
